OPENING NOTES
- Central Connecticut (6-17, 4-6 NEC) welcomes LeMoyne (10-13, 8-2 NEC) to the Detrick Gym for a Northeast Conference matchup on Thursday night.
- The Blue Devils fell to the Dolphins 57-44 in their first matchup. Samora Watson's team-high 13 points weren't enough in the loss.
- Head coach Way Veney is in her first season at the helm of the Blue Devils.
- CCSU will have a week until their next game vs Wagner at home for Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
WITH A CCSU WIN...
- The Blue Devils would improve to 5-6 in the NEC and 4-1 at home in conference play. They currently stand in 5th behind Merrimack (5-5) who will face Stonehill (3-7) on Thursday night.
- They will have their most conference wins since the 2017-18 season (7-11).
- They will notch their first program win vs The Dolphins.
NOTABLES
- Samora Watson currently leads the NEC in scoring with 18 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding with 5.8 per game. Her 16 points in last week's game vs Sacred Heart were not enough to capture a win in their last game.
- Belle Lanpher is 5th in the league in scoring with 13 points a game behind LeMoyne guard Lytoya Baker (13.1). Lanpher leads the team in assists with 2.7 good for 8th in the NEC. She leads her team at the charity stripe shooting 88% (first in NEC). On the defensive end, she's taken more charges than presumably anyone in the NEC. Lanpher had 11 points with four rebounds and two assists in her last game vs SHU.
- The Blue Devils are the number one free throw shooting team which has helped them win games with a lead down the stretch. However, in last week's loss vs Sacred Heart, they got to the foul line a season-low four times.
- Alonna Sellers was named a Prime Performer on Monday for her double-double performance vs SHU last week. Sellers cashed in 10 points and 11 rebounds in her third straight start.
