OPENING NOTES:
• Central Connecticut opens the 2022-23 season at Manhattan on Monday.
• Way Veney begins her first season at Central Connecticut. Her squad returns two starters and a total of five letter winners.
• CCSU will travel to Syracuse on Friday the 10th then to Saint Peter's on the 13th and Bryant on the 17th before playing their home opener on Nov. 21st vs Umass Lowell.

• Central would win its season-opener for the first time since 2020-21 (87-72, vs. St. Francis Brooklyn).
• CCSU would win an opener on the road for the first time since 2010-11 (64-62, vs. Hartford).
• Way Veney would receive her first win as The Blue Devil's Head coach.
NOTABLES
• CCSU returnees contributed 32.4 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game last season. Those numbers account for six percent of the Blue Devils offensive production last season. The Blue Devils return 57% of their scoring and just 23.3% of their rebounding production.
• The Blue Devils ranked seventh in offensive with 56.8 ppg and fourth on the defensive end (64.4 ppg) in the NEC.
• Belle Lanpher finished the season ranked among the top 15 in five statistical categories in the conference. She ranked in the top 50 nationally in foul shooting, while ranking first in the NEC, at .850. She was also seventh in the league in scoring, 11th in assists, and shot a 44.1 percent clip from the field. She earned NEC All-Second Team last season and was picked as a preseason NEC first-teamer.

• Central welcomes three newcomers to the program this season.
• Samora Watson: Transfer from East Carolina...Averaged 1.8 ppg and appeared in an NCAA tournament game.
• Alonna Sellers: Transfer from UNC Asheville...Averaged 1.1 ppg as a freshman but did not play last season due to injury.
• Kayla Henry: Played for East Hartford High School and helped win their first Girls Basketball State Championship last season. She was also part of the New England girl's basketball watchlist.
