NGWSD Celebration Presented By Eversource Set For January 21
Clinic for girls K-6 and a women's basketball game on tap
CCSU Athletics is excited to announce the date for its annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day event, presented by Eversource. The 2024 edition will take place on Sunday, January 21, 2024. The FREE event is open to girls from kindergarten through sixth grade and begins at 11:00 am, with registration starting at 10:30.
The first 100 registrants will receive a t-shirt compliment of CCSU Athletics and Eversource.
Attendees are asked to register in advance by completing the online REGISTRATION form. If registering more than three attendees, please complete additional registrations forms. All participants must have a completed WAIVER signed and turned in before participating in the clinic.
"Our NGWSD clinic and celebration is one of the highlights of our season," said CCSU Director of Athletics Tom Pincince. "It is an invaluable experience for the participants who are able to envision what they are able to accomplish by spending a few hours with our student-athletes. And the enjoyment that our student-athletes have from sharing their passion for their sport with the next generation is inspirational."
CCSU female student-athletes will host activity stations to introduce participants to volleyball, soccer, softball, cheer, dance, lacrosse, and track & field. Following that, lunch will be served and a poster making activity will take place to help cheer on the women's basketball team in its 1:00 pm Northeast Conference game versus LIU. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and the Yes Network Following the game, members of the Blue Devils basketball team will sign autographs for the participants.
National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) began in 1987 as a special day in our nation's capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite women athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports. This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life.
