
Samora Watson Named Northeast Conference Player of The Week
Samora Watson was awarded Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. This time the sophomore from League City TX had two outstanding offensive performances vs Colgate and Penn State.
Samora Watson scored 27 points on 11-of-16 shooting at home in front of 1400 rowdy kids for Central's Kids Day Out game. She led the Blue Devils with 12 rebounds for her first career double-double and willed her team to a 69-54 win over Colgate on Monday morning.
Watson followed up her performance with a team-high 28 points in a Wednesday morning game vs Penn State where Central scored a season-high 73 points. The sophomore guard has scored double figures in all but two games and has been the team's leading scorer in 7 of the 11 games she played this season.
- Watson leads the Northeast Conference in scoring (17.7ppg) along with the three best scoring performances in the NEC (38-point performance at New Hampshire (Dec. 3), (28 points at Penn State on Dec. 20th), (27 points in a double-digit win over Colgate on Monday, Dec 18).
- She led the Blue Devils with 12 rebounds for her first career double-double vs Colgate and snatched 9 rebounds in the loss vs Penn State.
- Watson is now a two-time player of the week in her first year in the Northeast Conference.
- Watson averaged 23.6 points per contest to lead the NEC in December. That number is nearly double her scoring average of 12.8 points per game in November.
The Blue Devils are on the road on January 3rd to take on Morgan State at 5:30 before they start their conference slate.
