
Samora Watson Named NEC Player of the Week
The Northeast Conference announced Samora Watson as the Co-Player of the Week with Sacred Hearts Ny'Ceara Pryor on Monday afternoon.
Samora Watson was previously named a prime performer in week two of the NEC weekly awards. In week four Watson was named Co-Player of the Week by the conference after her 38-point performance vs New Hampshire on Saturday.
"Samora is a very talented offensive player, Veney said. Her continued growth and progression as an individual help the overall success of our team. It's fun to watch Samora excel at this level, and we are excited to have her at Central as part of our rebuilding process."
- Went 15-of-23 from the field along with a 5-for-6 effort from the free throw line, and was 3-of-5 beyond the arch.
- Watson added a team-high five rebounds and two assists in the game as well.
- She outscored the UNH Wildcats 22-21 in the fourth quarter.
- 38 is the most points scored by a Blue Devil since Hope Linthicum dropped 42 vs Maine in 1987.
- The East Carolina transfer is one of three Blue Devils to score 38 or more in a single game. She joins CCSU legends Hope Linthicum and Donna Fiedorowicz.
- Leads the Blue Devils and the Northeast Conference in FG percentage at a .433 clip.
- Watson ranks second in the circuit in scoring with 16.4 ppg. She is the first Blue Devil to garner NEC Player of the Week honors this season
