Baseball Stumbles in Sunday Finale to Mount St. Mary's
Central Connecticut had its six-game win streak snapped by Mount St. Mary's, 9-4, on Sunday in Northeast Conference baseball action in New Britain, CT. Central was limited to six hits on the day and the Mount scored four runs in the top of the ninth to put the game away.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Tuesday when they play Quinnipiac at Dunkin' Donuts Park at 10:30 a.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- Mount St. Mary's got a pair of runs in the third with Tristan McAlister driving in a run on a groundout and Aiden Tierney doubling home another run to make it 2-0. After putting runners on second and third to open the fourth, Matt McTighe hit a sacrifice fly to plate a run and make it 3-0.
- Central would get a run back in the bottom of the fourth after junior Dan Covino walked and moved to third on a single by junior Noah Martinez. Senior Sam Loda followed with a sac fly the scored Covino to make it 3-1.
- The teams traded runs in the sixth with Covino bringing home sophomore Hunter Pasqualini to make it 4-2.
- Ryan Fisher led off the Mount seventh with a double and would score on a wild pitch to push the lead to 5-2. in the ninth, the Mountaineers added to their lead with four runs. Tyler Grodell would single in a run before Tierney delivered a three-run homerun to make it 9-2.
- Central would score twice in the bottom of the ninth, with Martinez and junior Jack Nolan each doubling home runs but the Blue Devils would be unable to get any closer.
NOTES
- Connor Adams tossed 8.0 innings for the win. He struck out nine and was charged with three runs, while limiting CCSU to four hits.
- Martinez had two hits to lead the CCSU lineup.
- Central had its 11-game win streak against Mount St. Mary's snapped.
