Baseball Falls to Fairfield in Extra Innings
The Central Connecticut baseball team fell to Fairfield, 4-3, in 10 innings on Wednesday in Fairfield, CT. The Blue Devils hit a pair of homeruns in the eighth and ninth innings to send it to extra-innings, before the Stags won the game on a walk-off homerun.
Central hosts Bryant in a three-game Northeast Conference series beginning Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Fairfield built a 2-0 lead after four innings. A RBI-double by Mike Becchetti and a RBI-groundout by Dean Ferrara put the Stags in front.
- CCSU was held to one hit in the first five innings, but would get a run back in the sixth. Junior Dan Covino hit a one-out double and would move to third on a wild pitch. Junior Noah Martinez would bring him home on a groundout to first base to make it 2-1.
- The Stags got the run back in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice by Griffin Watson to make it 3-1.
- The Blue Devils rallied in the final two frames to send the game to extra innings. Sophomore Hunter Pasqualini led off the eighth inning with a solo homerun to make it a one-run game. In the top of the ninth, freshman Kyle Gordon hit a one-out solo homerun to tie the game, 3-3.
- In the 10th, CCSU would load the bases with two outs, but a strikeout ended the threat. In the bottom of the inning, Colin Kelly led off with a walkoff homerun to win it for the Stags.
NOTES
- CCSU played its first extra-inning contest of the season.
- Covino had two hits and scored a run for Central. The Blue Devils had nine hits as a team.
- Sophomore Jack Kelley made his second start of the year, tossing 2.0 innings. He allowed an unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts.
- Sophomore TJ Wainwright allowed his first earned run of the season in five appearances. He has tossed 6.0 innings on the year and has seven strikeouts with just one earned run on nine hits.
