Covino Earns All-ECAC Baseball Honors
Junior Dan Covino of the Central Connecticut baseball team was named to the 2022 Division I All-ECAC Team it was announced on Wednesday. Sophomore pitcher Luke Garofalo earned an Honorable Mention spot it was also announced.
Covino was also a First Team All-NEC pick and Second Team All-New England as a junior. He started 46 contests while hitting third in the Blue Devils' lineup. He was among the NEC leaders with a .328 batting average and led the league with 19 doubles. He ranked second with 58 RBIs, while ranking sixth with a .441 on-base percentage and seventh with nine home runs.
Garofalo was also a First Team All-NEC pick as well as being named All-New England First Team and ABCA/Rawlings Division I Northeast All-Region Second Team. He helped anchor the back end of the Blue Devils' bullpen and posted three saves in 43.0 innings of work across 18 appearances. He went 5-1 with a 1.26 ERA and had 57 strikeouts and limited opposing hitters to a .169 average. The righty tossed 6.0 shutout innings and earned the win in CCSU's win over FDU at the NEC Tournament.
