Baseball Blanks the Mount
Central Connecticut State baseball defeated Mount St. Mary's in game one of the weekend Northeast Conference series, posting a 10-0 shutout. Dominac Niman pitched a gem for the Blue Devils, striking out 12 Mountaineers across eight innings of work.

KEY MOMENTS
- .It did not take long for Niman to start dealing Friday, punching out the first two batters he faced.
- Jay Devito got the bottom of the first inning underway with a bunt that he was able to get on with. Dan Covino hit a home run in the next at bat that sailed just over the fence in right field, giving CCSU a quick 2-0 advantage.
- The Blue Devils were able to load the bases up after two walks and a hit by pitch in the bottom of the second inning, but MSM was able to get out of the jam unscathed.
- After two more strikeouts from Niman in the top of the third, Aidan Redahan advanced Sam Loda up to third base with a single, but were unable to get the senior catcher home.
- Niman struck out the side in the fourth inning. Elliot Good and Hunter Pasqualin got on with singles in the bottom of the fourth inning, and were advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Covino was able to score both Blue Devils after a botched fielder's choice from the Mount defense.
- Pasqualin hit a triple in the bottom of the fifth inning in the gap in left field that scored two more CCSU runs.
- Loda hit a triple in the bottom of the sixth inning that scored another two CCSU runs, and Loda was brought home by Redahan, making it a 10-0 ballgame.
- Jay Devito was able to reach third after an error from the Mount in the bottom of the seventh, but the Blue Devils capped their scoring at ten.
NOTES
- CCSU head coach Charlie Hickey is 597-519-5 in 23 years at CCSU and has a 703-580-6 record overall.
- Devito and Pasqualini led the Blue Devils with two hits each.
- Covino led CCSU with four RBI's.
