Baseball Wins Fifth Straight; Downs Hartford Tuesday
The Central Connecticut baseball team won its fifth straight with a 14-9 triumph at Hartford on Wednesday in West Hartford. The Blue Devils had five players record at least two hits and sophomore Hunter Pasqualini drove in six runs.
The Blue Devils begin a three-game series at home against Wagner on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Sophomore Hunter Pasqualini and senior Jay Devito led off the fourth inning with a single and double back-to-back. Pasqualini would score on an RBI-groundout by junior Noah Martinez to make it 1-0.
- In the fifth, freshman Kyle Gordon led off with a single and then stole second. After he moved to third on a fly out, sophomore Michael Torniero knocked him in with a single. Torniero would score on a single by Pasqualini to make it 3-0.
- Central tacked on a run in the sixth after senior Sam Loda doubled with two outs. Gordon would drive him home with a single to center field to push the lead to 4-0.
- Junior Jack Nolan and Torniero led off the seventh with a double and single, respectively. Nolan would score on a groundout by sophomore Elliot Good and Torniero came home on a double to left by Pasqualini to make it 6-0. The Blue Devils would record four straight hits and back-to-back singles by junior Dan Covino and Martinez drove in two runs to push the lead to 8-0. CCSU would load the bases with one out and a walk to Gordon brough home the fifth run of the inning.
- The Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the inning with two outs. Ben Maycock hit a solo homerun to right field and following an error, Tyler Holmes would homer to left to make it 9-3.
- Covino would double home Pasqualini in the eighth before the Blue Devils added four more runs in the ninth. After an error to open the inning, Torniero would single and Good would draw a walk to load the bases. Pasqualini would clear the bases with his third homer of the season.
- In the ninth, Hartford would mount a rally, batting through the order and scoring six runs. Brett Anderson led off with a homerun and Kevin Koziol would single home a run to make it 14-5. The Hawks would load the bases with two outs and Daniel Burnett would hit a grand slam to make it 14-9 before Central got a game-ending strikeout.
NOTES
- Central matched a season-high with 17 hits as a team.
- Sophomore Randy Reyes started and tossed 3.0 perfect innings. He recorded two strikeouts.
- Sophomore TJ Wainwright got the win, tossing 2.0 shutout innings. He had five strikeouts and allowed just two hits.
- Pasqualini went 4-for-5 with four runs and six RBIs at the plate.
- Covino and Torniero each had three hits.
- Since a four-game slide April 5-12, Central has gone 11-1.
