Baseball Sweeps Series with Sacred Heart in Saturday Win
The Central Connecticut closed out its three-game series with Sacred Heart with a 14-6 win in Northeast Conference baseball action at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford, CT. The Blue Devils would build a 10-run lead in the middle innings and coast to their fourth straight win.
The Blue Devils travel to Quinnipiac for a non-conference game on Tuesday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central would score two runs in the top of the first. Sophomore Hunter Pasqualini and senior Jay Devito led off with back-to-back singles. Junior Dan Covino would double down the line in right to plate Pasqualini. Junior Noah Martinez followed with another double to plate Devito and make it 2-0.
- The Blue Devils tacked on three runs in the second. With two outs, sophomore Elliot Good would score on a passed ball and Covino would double in Pasqualini to make it 4-0. Martinez followed with a RBI-single to make it a five-run game.
- SHU got a run in the second as well, but CCSU would push across three more runs in the fourth. Central loaded the bases with one out, and a groundout by Martinez plated the first run of the inning. Senior Sam Loda followed with a two-run single to make it 8-1.
- The teams would each score three runs in the fifth. Devito drove in a pair of runs on a single and Martinez drove in his fourth of the day on a single to make it 11-1. In the bottom of the inning, Joe Emerson singled in the first run. George Sutherland hit an RBI groundout and Dante D'Amore drew a bases loaded walk to make it 11-4.
- Freshman Kyle Gordon and junior Jack Nolan led off with a single and a double, respectively, in the sixth. Good would hit a sac fly to drive in a run and make it 12-4.
- After a pair of walks, with two outs Gordon singled to center field to drive in a run and make it 13-4.
- Covino hit his third double of the day to drive in Good in the eighth to make it 14-4.
- Sam Mongelli hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to get SHU within 14-6.
NOTES
- Central claimed its fifth straight win over the Pioneers.
- Sophomore Anthony Mozzicato started and got the win for CCSU. He allowed four runs over 5.0 innings and struck out three with two walks.
- The top four batters in the CCSU lineup combined for 10 hits, nine runs and nine RBIs.
- Devito reached base six times in the game. He had three hits and drew three walks, while scoring four runs.
- Pasqualini scored four runs and had two hits.
- Covino hit three doubles and drove in three runs. Martinez drove in four runs.
