Baseball Bounces Back Against Wagner on Saturday
The Central Connecticut baseball team rallied for a 9-6 win over Wagner on Saturday in Northeast Conference action in New Britain. The Blue Devils erased a four-run deficit and held the Seahawks to just two hits over the final four innings.
The Blue Devils and Seahawks will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- For the second day in a row, Wagner opend the game with two runs. Griffen Selby and Cody Bey each drove in a run in the top of the first to make it 2-0.
- With two outs in the second, sophomore Jeff Nicol kept the inning going with a single to the left side. Following a walk, sophomore Michael Torneiro singled through the middle to drive in Nicol and make it 2-1.
- Central filled the bases with two outs in the third inning and a wild pitch would bring home sophomore Hunter Pasqualini to tie the game. After another walk to load the bases Wagner avoided further damage with an inning-ending strikeout.
- The Seahawks would regain the lead with a four-run fifth inning. Dante Faicchio delivered a bases loaded single to plate two runs. An error on the play allowed another run to come home and Faicchio would score on a ground out one batter later to make it 6-2.
- Junior Dan Covino walked to lead off the fifth and after moving to third on a single he would score on a wild pitch to make it 6-3.
- Senior Jay Devito drove in a run in the sixth to make it a two-run game. After a single put runners on the corners, freshman Tyler Fote hit a bases-clearing double to tie the game.
- CCSU tied it in the seventh. With runners on the corners, Pasqualini hit a stand up triple down the line in right to tie the game. Devito would follow with a bunt down the first base line and Pasqualini beat the throw home to make it 9-6.
NOTES
- Since a four-game slide April 5-12, Central has gone 12-2.
- Pasqualini extended his hit streak to eight gamesand has gone 17-for-35 (.486) in that span.
- Junior Dylan Benton tossed 1.2 shutout innings and earned the win.
- Sophomore Luke Garofalo tossed 2.0 innings of no-hit, no-walk ball. He struck out three and earned his third save.
