Women's Basketball Shows Support to CCMC
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team recently showed their gratitude and appreciation for members of the Connecticut Children's Medical Center with chalk drawings and letters of inspiration during National Hospital Week. The team wanted to express their thanks to those on the frontlines in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blue Devils assistant coach Andrew Stephens' wife works at CCMC and helped put the program in touch with hospital staff. The team wrote letters and #Chalk4Childrens drawings for not only the doctors and nurses, but the everyday workers behind the scenes responsible for disinfecting patients' rooms, delivering meals and those who make sure medical supplies are where they need to be.
"I am so proud and inspired by the response of our team in this most uncertain time," said interim head coach Kerri Reaves. "They have shown such great sensitivity, thoughtfulness, and are extremely thankful for those who put the needs of others before their own. It is a testament to our team, our staff, and our CCSU community. We are ALL in this together."
The CCMC marketing department recognized the efforts of the CCSU women's basketball team in a newsletter sent out to the entire hospital staff. The update reached 2,500 staff members and included a message of thanks from President and CEO Jim Shmerling to the Blue Devils for their support.
