Women's Basketball Returns to Detrick Gym to Host Bryant on Saturday
Saturday is Alumni Day for CCSU basketball.
After three games on the road, the Central Connecticut women's basketball team returns to New Britain to host Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 15. The Blue Devils look to earn a season split with the Bulldogs and earn its third win of the season and second NEC victory.
Central will be hosting Alumni Day on Saturday for its doubleheader against Bryant. The women's game tips off at 1:00 p.m. and the men follow at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
The CCSU Alumni Association is collecting items to make emergency kits for homeless shelters in New Britain at the men's and women's basketball games on Saturday. All supplies are welcome, but high-priority items include new socks, granola bars, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, travel-size shampoo, body wash, laundry detergent and nonperishable food items.

Last Time Out • The Blue Devils fell to Bryant last Saturday 59-47 in Smithfield, RI. The team trailed by just eight points going into the final quarter, but an 11-0 run by the Bulldogs pushed the lead to double-digits. Bruna Vila Artigues led Central with 11 points, shooting 4-9 from the floor including 3-5 from behind the arc.
Series History with Bryant • CCSU and Bryant meet for the 26th time with the Bulldogs holding a slight 14-11 edge in the overall series. In the last 10 meetings, Central has won four times.
Most Recent for the Bulldogs • The Black and Gold earned its fifth NEC win 78-59 over St. Francis Brooklyn on Monday. The team shot 53.6 percent from the floor led by Sydney Holloway who posted a double-double (22 pts, 14 rebs).
Stick with Slicklein • In 15 games played this season, junior Tiffany Slicklein is 9-22 (.409) from behind the arc. She has drained her past four triples and went a perfect 3-3 from deep at Saint Francis U (Feb. 3).
Napoleon Knocks Them Down • Freshman Jamey Napoleon leads the team in free throw percentage (94.4 percent). On the year, the rookie is 17-18 from the charity stripe.
With a Win... • CCSU earns a season split with Bryant...Central earns its third win and second NEC victory...The Blue Devils snap a four-game skid and earn its second win in New Britain.
