Central Opens NEC Play Against Robert Morris
The women play game one of a double-header starting at 5 p.m.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team tips-off the New Year and Northeast Conference play hosting Robert Morris on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Detrick Gymnasium. The game is the first of a double-header starting at 5 p.m. followed by the men who will take on the Colonials at 7:30 p.m.
Central closed the 2019 calendar year earning its first win of the season at Hartford. The win marked the 150th career victory for head coach Beryl Piper. The team looks for its first NEC victory and to break a nine-game slump against the Colonials.

Last Time Out • Central closed the non-conference schedule with a 61-54 win at Hartford on December 21. Juniors Ashley Berube and Ashley Forker led the Blue Devils combining for a perfect 17-17 from the foul line. Berube was one-point shy of matching her career-high (25pts, 8rbs). Forker posted a career-high in points and rebounds (16pts, 13rbs) and earned her second double-double of the season.
Series History with the Colonials • This marks the 42nd meeting between the two squads, with RMU leading the series 28-13. The Colonials have won the last nine meetings against the Blue Devils. CCSU last defeated Robert Morris on Jan. 25, 2016 48-39 in New Britain.
Most Recent for RMU • Despite trailing by 11 entering the fourth quarter, RMU defeated Norfolk State 69-62 in double-overtime on December 18. Four players hit double-figures led by Honoka Ikematsu who scored 15 points, nine coming in overtime. RMU most recently lost to James Madison 59-32 in its non-conference finale on December 29.
With a Win... • CCSU would snap a nine-game skid against RMU...It would be the second win for CCSU on the season and first conference win...It would be the fifth win for Coach Piper against RMU...It will be the first time Central won its conference opener since the 2016-17 season (W, 66-53 vs Wagner).
