NEC Reveals Women's Basketball Preseason Poll
Central opens the 2019-20 season on Nov. 5 at Buffalo.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team was chosen 10th in the 2019-20 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced on Wednesday at the league's Social Media Day at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NY. The league also revealed the preseason All-NEC Team selections at the basketball season tip-off ceremony.
The Blue Devils, under the direction of 13th year head coach Beryl Piper, went 7-21 and 4-14 in league play before concluding their season at home against St. Francis Brooklyn. CCSU will return three starters including junior Ashley Berube who started in 25 games averaging 9.6 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game. She led the team in field goal percentage (.514) and 49 blocks.
The 2019 NEC Champions, Robert Morris, was unanimously picked this year's preseason favorite by the league's head coaches.
The Blue Devils open the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at Buffalo. Their home opener is Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. against Brown.
