Women's Hoops to Play Merrimack Saturday
This is the first ever meeting between the Blue Devils and Warriors.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hosts the Warriors of Merrimack in game one of a double-header starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Detrick Gym in New Britain, CT. The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row. The Blue Devils are still on the hunt for their first conference victory and second win of the season.
Coming off her second double-double (16 pts, 18 rebs, 4 blks) and sixth straight game hitting double-figures, Ashley Berube is 10th in the conference in scoring at 12.3 points per game. The center sits at sixth in the league in rebounding averaging 7.2 per contest. On the defensive side of the floor, Berube is second in both block shots (29) and defensive rebounds (79).

Last Time Out • CCSU held a 12 point lead with 7:21 to play in the third, but Sacred Heart rallied back to win 66-58 on Wednesday. SHU outscored the Blue Devils 22-10 in the final quarter relying on its three-point shooting, going 6-13 (.462) from behind the arc in the second half to earn the win.
Berube Breaks into the Books • Junior Ashley Berube grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds against Sacred Heart (Jan. 8) putting her tied for fifth in program history for most rebounds in a single game. She also scored 16 points marking her second double-double of the season and her sixth straight game scoring double-figures.
Series History with the Warriors • Merrimack joined the Northeast Conference at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. This marks the first-ever match up between the Blue Devils and the Warriors.
Most Recent for Merrimack • The Warriors dropped its first two conference games to SFU (63-60) and Robert Morris (68-62) then beat Bryant 78-66 on Wendesday. Four players scored double-figures against the Bulldogs led by Denia Davis-Stewart who scored 20 points putting her in the 1,000 point club.
With a Win... • Central would earn its second win of the season and its first win in conference play...CCSU would give Merrimack its third NEC loss...Central would be 1-0 versus the Warriors.
