Women's Basketball Tips off 2019-20 Season at Buffalo
Central's home opener is Thursday, Nov. 14 against Brown.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team will open the 2019-20 campaign against Buffalo in Buffalo, NY on Tuesday night. The Blue Devils tip off against the Mid-American opponent at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
Junior Ashley Berube is the top returning scorer (9.6 ppg) and rebounder (6.7 rpg) for the Blue Devils. She led the team with the best shooting percentage at 51.4 percent, third in the Northeast Conference. Berube was also second in the conference for blocked shots (49). The center posted six double-doubles in 25 games and scored a career high 17 points with 11 rebounds against Bryant (Feb. 2).
The Blue Devils are coming off a season with a 7-21 overall record and 4-14 NEC record. This season, Central was picked to finish 10th in the preseason coaches poll announced at the NEC Social Media Day in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclay's Center on Oct. 23.

Series History • Central is 1-13 in the all-time series against the Bulls. Before last season, the two teams hadn't played each other since the 1996-97 season. Last year, the Blue Devils fell to Buffalo 82-69 in New Britain. The 2018-19 MAC Conference Champions enter the game coming off a 20+ win season and defeating Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The team lost to Connecticut in the second round.
With A Win... • CCSU will win its first season opener since the 2014-15 season when the Blue Devils beat Hofstra 71-66...It will be the first time Central has beaten Buffalo since the one-point (63-62) victory in the 1992-93 season under Dr. Brenda Reilly...It will be the first win against the Bulls for head coach Beryl Piper.
