Blue Devils to Hold Food Drive Collection
The CCSU basketball program will be holding a food and toiletry goods collection to benefit Maria's Place - CCSU Community Pantry at Saturday's game against Hartford. Fans will be able to donate items at collection boxes located in the lobby entrance to Detrick Gymnasium as they head into the game. Tipoff for the contest is slated for 1:00 p.m.
Any non-perishable food items or other donations such as an extra box of pasta, canned food, a tube of toothpaste, and baby formula or diapers are suggested donations to benefit Maria's Place - CCSU Community Pantry. The pantry provides the CCSU community with donated non-perishable items to ensure that CCSU students, faculty, and staff can acquire the necessary items to fulfill basic needs.
MARIA'S PLACE COMMUNITY PANTRY
Maria's Place is a FREE service for ALL current CCSU students, faculty and staff who are in need of food assistance. The food pantry was named in loving memory of Maria A. Alvarez. Maria worked at CCSU for more than 32 years where she was loved by students, faculty and staff. Outside of work, Maria was a volunteer at the food pantry in her parish. The food pantry combines her love of students and compassion for the community.
