Men's Basketball Falls to Fordham in Double-OT
The Central Connecticut men's basketball fell to Fordham, 89-83, in double overtime on Sunday at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils were playing their home opener and rallied from a 12-point deficit in the second half to force overtime.
Junior Ian Krishnan scored 17 points to pace four Blue Devils in double-figures. Central shot 33-of-78 (.423) overall in the game and was 7-of-25 (.280) from three-point range. The Blue Devils went 10-of-12 (.833) from the foul line. CCSU outrebounded the Rams, 40-38.
Darius Quisenberry had 27 points to lead Fordham, while Chuba Ohams added 19 points and 13 rebounds. The Rams shot 28-of-60 (.467) from the field and 7-of-26 (.269) from three-point range. The Rans went 26-of-33 (.788) at the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central held Fordham to one field goal in the opening 6:47 and built an 11-4 lead. Krishnan had five points during the stretch, while two foul shots from freshman Andre Snoddy pushed the lead to seven at the 13:32 mark. The Blue Devils would push the lead to as much as 21-12 after consecutive baskets by freshman Joe Ostrowsky and senior Stephane Ayangma midway through the half.
- The teams traded three-point field goals to close the opening half. Junior Zach Newkirk hit a trifecta with just under a minute to go in the opening half and the Blue Devils would lead 32-28 at halftime.
- Freshman Jayden Brown made a layup on CCSU's opening possession of the second half to make it 34-28. Fordham would hold Central scoreless for nearly four and a half minutes and went on a 18-0 run to build a double-digit lead. Quisenberry hit back-to-back three-pointers with 15:11 to play to make it 46-34.
- The Blue Devils chipped away at the deficit and drew within 62-60 with 0:48 remaining following a layup by junior Nigel Scantelbury. Central set up for a final shot with 0:08 to play and after a missed shot by Krishnan, Brown got the offensive rebound and his putback with just over a second play put the game into overtime.
- In overtime, Fordham built a three-point lead it would maintain until backt-to-back buckets by Krishnan and Scantlebury made it 72-71 with 38 seconds left. The Rams would answer to regain the lead on the next possession and hit two foul shots with 0:04 remaining to go ahead 75-72. On the ensuing inbounds, Krishnan got the ball in the backcourt and got off a three-pointer just over the midcourt line as time expired to tie the game and send it to a second overtime.
- Brown opened the second period with a layup for CCSU, but Fordham came back with eight straight points to take the lead for good with 1:22 to play. Central made it a one-possession game with 0:37 to play, but the Rams went 6-for-6 from the line to close out the game.
