Men's Basketball Outrun at Stony Brook on Tuesday
The Central Connecticut men's basketball dropped an 87-67 contest against Stony Brook on Tuesday night at Island Federal Arena. The Blue Devils led early, but endured a five-minute scoreless stretch in the opening half that allowed the Seawolves to take the lead and pull away.
Junior Nigel Scantlebury paced Central in scoring with 17 points and also collected a team-high seven rebounds and four assists. Freshmen Jayden Brown and Trenton McLaughlin each chipped in personal-bests of 13 points and junior Tre Mitchell added 12 points. Central shot 27-of-62 (.435) from the field and 8-of-26 (.308) from three-point range. The Blue Devils went 5-of-10 (.500) at the foul line.
Jahlil Jenkins led five Seawolves in double-figures with a game-high 21 points. SBU shot 34-of-62 (.548) from the floor and 14-of-27 (.519) from three-point range. Stony Brook was 5-of-7 (.714) at the foul line and held a 35-31 edge in rebounding.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central took an early 7-4 lead following a jumper by freshman Jayden Brown. The Seawolves responded with a 15-0 run over a four-plus minute span. A three-pointer by Jahlil Jenkins made it 19-7 with 12:48 to go in the first half, forcing the first timeout by CCSU. The run would extend to 18-0 before a three-pointer by Brown would end the five-minute scoring drought for CCSU.
- Stony Brook would build its lead, outscoring the Blue Devils, 32-8, over a 10-minute span to push the lead to 36-15 with 6:17 to play in the first half. The Blue Devils would recover as the period closed, with junior Tre Mitchell scoring five straight points to make it 47-30 at the intermission.
- The Seawolves opened the second half with a quick 10-2 burst to open the second half and did not allow the Blue Devils an opportunity to recover. Central was unable to get closer than 19 points the rest of the way, but did score the final five points of the game on a layup by junior Zach Newkirk and a trey by freshman Trenton McLaughlin to settle the final margin.

4 - The Blue Devils had four players score in double digits for the second time this season, and first since their overtime loss to Fordham on Nov. 28.

- The teams were meeting for the first time.
- Scantlebury has led Central in rebounding in back-to-back games and notched his sixth double-digit scoring game of the year.
- Brown was 5-of-6 from the field, 1-of-1 on three-pointers, and did his offensive damage in just 17 minutes of action.
- McLaughlin was 5-of-7 overall, 2-of-3 on three-pointers, and added two assists and a steal in 23 minutes off the bench.
- Mitchell connected on a pair of three pointers and shot 5-of-11. He has scored 10+ points in back-to-back contests.
- The Blue Devils have not committed more than 16 turnovers in the past 10 games. CCSU was -1 (16-15) in the turnover margin.
- CCSU's bench outscored Stony Brook's, 25-19.
- Stony Brook featured a pair of former Northeast Conference standouts. Jenkins (FDU) and Omar Habwe (Mount St. Mary's), who had three points and six rebounds, both joined the Seawolves after previously playing for a pair of CCSU's conference mates.
