Men's Basketball Falls at Home to Saint Francis U on Thursday
The Central Connecticut men's basketball fell to Saint Francis U, 79-63, in Northeast Conference action on Thursday at Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils trailed throughout and were unable to recover from a sluggish start.
Junior Nigel Scantlebury scored a career-high 30 points, while junior Tre Mitchell was the only other Blue Devil in double-figures with 15 points. Central shot 21-of-58 (.362) overall and was 6-of-22 (.273) on three-pointers. The Blue Devils went 15-of-19 (.789) at the foul line.
The Red Flash had four starters in double-figures. SFU shot 29-of-56 (.518) overall and 10-of-21 (.476) from three-point range.The Red Flash went 11-of-17 (.647) from the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Red Flash opened the game on a 9-0 run in the opening 3:02 of the game. Central would managed to claw back to within 14-10 after a three-pointer by Mitchell at the 13:55 mark, but would not be able to tie the game or take the lead on the night.
- Following Mitchell's trey, CCSU would be held without a field goal for over eight minutes until a trifecta by Scantlebury with 5:46 to go in the half. SFU would push its lead to double-figures in the interim before CCSU managed to get back within 37-31 at the intermission.
- SFU opened the second half by outscoring CCSU, 9-3 and pushed the lead back to double-figures at 46-33. Central would not get any closer the rest of the way as SFU would extend its lead to as much as 71-49 with 5:05 to play. The Red Flash shot a blistering 14-of-23 (.609) from the field and 7-of-10 (.700) from the arc in the second half.

15 - The Blue Devils were outrebounded, 43-28, in the game. The Red Flash had a 19-5 edge in second chance points.
NOTES
- SFU swept the season series and leads the all-time series, 26-23.
- Scantlebury notched his first career 30-point game, shooting 10-of-18 overall and 3-of-6 from the arc. He added five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- Mitchell finished 5-of-5 at the line and hit a pair of three-pointers.
- Freshman Andre Snoddy grabbed a team-high six rebounds, the 17th time he's led Central in rebounding in a game this season.
- CCSU slipped into a four-way tie in the NEC standings for the 6-7-8-9 seed in the upcoming tournament. The opening round game between the 8 and 9 seeds will be on Monday, Feb. 28.
