Scantlebury's Career Night Lifts Men's Basketball by Holy Cross
The Central Connecticut men's basketball held off Holy Cross, 73-67, on Wednesday night at Detrick Gymnasium. Junior Nigel Scantlebury scored a career-high 25 points to lead the Blue Devils.
Scantlebury was 8-of-10 from the field, 3-of-3 on three-pointers, and 6-of-6 at the foul line. He added four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Junior Ian Krishnan chipped in with 16 points and freshman Andre Snoddy scored a personal-best 11 points. The Blue Devils shot 25-of-50 (.500) overall and were 8-of-17 (.471) from the arc, while going 15-of-20 (.750) at the foul line.
Holy Cross was led by Judson Martindale, who scored 22 points. Gerrale Gates added 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Crusaders shot 23-of-59 (.390) from the field and 6-of-17 (.353) from the arc. Holy Cross was 15-of-19 (.789) at the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- Holy Cross scored the opening five points of the game, but Krishnan would come back with back-to-back three-pointers to make it 6-5 at the 16:45 mark. The teams would trade leads until Scantlebury hit a three-pointer to make it 23-20 with 4:22 to go in the first half. The trey opened a quick 8-0 run that helped CCSU take a 30-25 lead into the intermission.
- Scantlebury would score Central's first seven points after halftime, but junior Zach Newkirk would get into the action hitting a three-pointer to open a personal run of eight straight points for the Blue Devils before junior Tre Mitchell hit a jumper to cap a 10-0 run and make it 47-34 with 12:38 to play.
- The Crusaders would hang around and get five straight points from Kyrell Luc with 1:15 remaining to get within 66-63. Snoddy would account for four straight for CCSU to help push the lead to 70-65 and the game would not get closer.
