Men's Basketball Has Rally Run Out of Time; Krishnan Reaches 1,000 Career Points
The Central Connecticut men's basketball mounted a furious second half rally that came up just short, falling to Wagner, 54-52, on Thursday in Northeast Conference action at the Detrick Gymnasium. The Blue Devils trailed by 24 with 16:39 to play before getting with one point with 1:26 to go. The Seahawks would hold off the rally to remain unbeaten in league play.
CCSU junior Ian Krishnan scored his 1,000th career point in the game with a foul shot at the 7:05 mark of the second half.
Freshman Andre Snoddy had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead CCSU. Freshman Joe Ostrowsky added 10 points, while senior Stephane Ayangma grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Central shot 18-of-60 (.300) overall and went 6-of-26 (.231) on three-pointers. The Blue Devils went 10-of-15 (.667) at the foul line.
Alex Morales scored 11 points to lead Wagner. The Seahawks shot 18-of-48 (.375) overall and 6-of-18 (.333) from three-point range. Wagner was 12-of-16 (.750) from the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- Wagner limited Central to one field goal in the opening 5:01 and built an 8-2 lead. After a layup by freshman Jayden Brown at the 9:22 mark, CCSU was limited to two foul shots until Ostrowsky hit a layup with 1:05 to go in the half. Brown would score a layup just before intermission, but the Seahawks held a 38-17 lead at the break.
- Wagner scored the first three points of the second half to take its largest lead at 41-17 with 16:39 to play.
- The Blue Devils' defense would buckle down after an Elijah Ford jumper with 14:08 to play. CCSU limited Wagner to two foul shots during a 12-2 run over a 6:48 span. Krishnan had six points during the spurt and a three-pointer by freshman Trenton McLaughlin would make it 45-33 with 8:15 to play.
- After a Wagner bucket, Central came back with nine unanswered points. A three-pointer by Ostrowsky with 3:53 to play made it 47-42. The deficit grew back to seven points before junior Tre Mitchell would hit consecutive three-pointers to get CCSU within 51-50 with 1:26 to go. Central trailed by two after Wagner hit 1-of-2 foul shots with 16 seconds left giving the Blue Devils a final possession, but their final shot was blocked away.

38 - Krishnan became the 38th athlete in the history of the Blue Devils' program to reach the 1,000 career point plateau.

- Snoddy posted his second straight double-double and third of the season.
- Ostrowsky went 2-of-4 on three-pointers and was 4-of-7 from the field overall. He added five rebounds and three assists. He posted a game-high +18.
- Senior Ian Krishnan finished the game with eight points. He has 1,0001 career points and 189 career three-pointers, which ranks third and second among active NEC players, respectively. He ranks 8th on the CCSU career three-pointer chart.
- Central outrebounded Wagner, 44-33.
- CCSU outscored Wagner in the second half, 35-16, limiting the Seahawks to 3-of-18 (.167) shooting.
