Men's Basketball Falls to UMass Lowell at Mohegan Sun Arena
The Central Connecticut men's basketball lost to UMass Lowell, 77-53, on Wednesday at the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena. The River Hawks built a double-digit cushion at halftime and did not allow the Blue Devils to come closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Junior Nigel Scantlebury was the only Blue Devil in double figures and had 12 points. Freshman Andre Snoddy matched a personal-best with nine rebounds. CCSU shot 18-of-52 (.346) from the field and 7-of-25 (.280) on three-pointers. Central was 10-of-17 (.588) at the foul line.
Max Brooks led UML with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Three River Hawks scored in double-figures and they shot 31-of-63 (.492) from the field. UMass Lowell was 6-of-20 (.300) from three-point range and 9-of-13 (.692) from the foul line.

KEY MOMENTS
- The River Hawks led throughout, scoring the first four points of the game. Central would tie the game in the early going following back-to-back three-pointers by junior Ian Krishnan to make it 6-6, but that was the game's only tie.
- UMass Lowell would hold Central without a field goal for over five minutes in the first half and would lead by as much as 20-10 during that stretch. After a Scantlebury three-pointer made it 29-22 with 3:21 to go in the period, UML would not allow another CCSU field goal and outscored the Blue Devils 7-1 down the stretch to build a 36-23 lead at the break.
- A three-pointer by freshman Davonte Sweatman made it 40-29 early in the second half, but that was as close as Central could get. The River Hawks scored 10 unanswered points midway through the half and would build its lead to 58-36 with 10:20 to play.
- Central managed just one field goal over the final 4:33, a layup by senior Stephan Ayangma with 1:11 left, and the River Hawks would close out the game by outscoring CCSU, 12-4.

- CCSU leads the all-time series, 11-5. Wednesday's meeting was the first neutral site matchup between the schools.
- Central committed just 13 turnovers, but were outrebounded, 43-30.
- Scantlebury shot 3-of-5 from the field and had four assists against just one turnover in the game.
- Snoddy played a team-high 32 minutes and added six points, two steals and two blocks, with his team-high nine rebounds.
- Ayangma, Krishnan, Sweatman and junior Tre Mitchell each scored seven points.
