
Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader at UMES to Continue NEC Win Streak
The Central Connecticut baseball team won its sixth straight Northeast Conference series after winning both games of a doubleheader from UMES on Sunday at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD. CCSU took the opening game, 17-1, before winning game two by a score of, 16-4.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central scored three runs on three hits in the opening frame. An RBI-groundout by Chris Brown was followed by an RBI triple by Bo Yaworski before a two-out error allowed another run to score and make it 3-0.
- The Hawks would plate a run in the bottom of the first on a single by Ryan Howe with one out, but that would be all they managed to score in the game.
- CCSU tacked on five runs on five hits in the second inning. Singles by Aidan Redahan, Jackson Haker and Antonio Ducatelli all drove in runs, while Gabe Pitts was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score another run.
- Haker and Matt Falk drew bases-loaded walks in the third inning and a wild pitch brought home another run to extend the lead to 11-1.
- In the fourth, CCSU scored on an error before Yaworski hit a two-run homerun to make it 14-1.
- Louis Jordan doubled in Brady Short in the seventh. He would move to third on a single before scoring on a wild pitch. Brandon O'Neill would round out the scoring by driving in a run on a fielder's choice.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central opened the game by scoring three runs in the first again. A pair of sac flies from Redahan and Yaworski accounted for the opening two runs before Ducatelli connected on a two-out double to drive in another run.
- The Hawks put runners on second and third with two outs in the second inning and Michael Blackiston singled to bring them home.
- Redahan reached on an error to open the third and he would score on a double by Yaworski. In the bottom of the inning, UMES scored an unearned run of its own to make it 4-3.
- In the fourth, Jordan hit his first career homerun with one out before Short and Gianno Merlonghi hit back-to-back singles. Redahan followed with a double to drive both in and make it 7-3.
- With two outs and two runners on in the fifth, Merlonghi singled to drive in two runs. He was followed by a double from Redahan to bring him home and make it 11-3.
- After the Hawks plated a run in the bottom of the fifth, Jordan would single with two outs in the sixth to score Ducatelli and make it 12-4.
- Ducatelli doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning. In the ninth, Matt Falk hit a two-run single in the ninth and Jordan singled in a run to make it 16-4.

- Vincent Borghese tossed his sixth straight complete-game. He scattered 10 hits and allowed just one run, while striking out nine.
- Short had five total hits and six runs scored.
- Yaworski had five hits and five RBIs.
- Redahan had a total of four hits, five runs and five RBIs in the doubleheader.
- Jordan went 4-for-6 with three RBIs and a run in game two.
- The Blue Devils' 17-game conference win streak is the longest in the country.
- Central has collected 10+ hits in 20 straight games as a team.
