
Short Recognized as NEC Baseball Player of the Week; Munn Named a Prime Performer
Central Connecticut infielder Brady Short was named Northeast Conference Baseball Player of the Week it was announced Tuesday. Short was also joined on the league's list of Prime Performers by Drew Munn.
Short led CCSU to a season-opening series win by taking two of three at Central Arkansas. The senior infielder went 6-for-11 (.545) in the series while scoring twice and driving in two more. In the Blue Devils' 7-2 victory on Saturday, Short smashed a homer to start off a three-run first inning for CCSU. The Hurley, NY native was one of the difference makers in Sunday's rubber match as he had three of the Blue Devils' 10 hits in the 6-2 triumph. Short solidified Sunday's score after hitting a double in the eighth inning to cushion CCSU's lead heading into the final frame. He leads the conference in batting average (.545), slugging percentage (1.000) and OPS (1.643), while ranking second in on-base percentage (.643). This marked Short's first career NEC Player of the Week selection.

Munn took the mound in Central's season-opener. He was solid in 5.0 innings of work, allowing just one earned run, while scattering five hits and striking out four.
