
Baseball Walks Off Fairfield For Fourth Consecutive Win
Ducatelli singles with bases loaded to provide the Blue Devils the win
The Central Connecticut baseball team defeated intra-state foe Fairfield University, 6-5, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils broke open a tie game with six runs in the eighth inning to win their fifth straight conference game.

KEY MOMENTS
- Dean Ferraro led off the game with a single through the left side, moved to third on a single and scored on a Tyler Kipp sacrifice fly
- The Blue Devils answered with two runs in their first at-bat, as Brady Short doubled to open the home portion, moved to third on a Gianno Merlonghi single and scored on a Aidan Redahan ground out
- Merlonghi would advance to third on a wild pitch and score on a Chris Brown single to give CCSU the 2-1 advantage
- The Stags jumped on top in the third when Bucciero tripled to score Ferraro who had earned a one-out walk. Bucciero would score on a single from Kipp, for the 3-2 lead for Fairfield
- Redahan, with one swing, brought the Blue Devils even with a homer un to right field in the bottom half of the inning
- With two out in the bottom of the sixth Bo Yaworski blooped a ball into left field that he turned into a hustle double. Antonio Ducatelli followed with a single to left that scored Yaworski to put the Blue Devils back on top, 4-3.
- Ferrara reached second in the top of the seventh with a bunt single and a stolen base. He took off for third, with one out, and beat the throw, but was unable to hold the bag, and was tagged out. Bucciero struck out looking on the next pitch to end the Fairfield threat,
- Redahan reached on a fielder's choice, advanced to second when Brown walked and then came around to score on an insurance run on a pair of wild pitches from Matthew Grabmann.
- Yaworski knocked down a hot ground ball to first in the top of the eighth inning, and flipped the ball Mason McCarroll who was covering, to retire Sturino.
- Fairfield sent eight men to the plate in the top of the ninth, started by a Luke McIlroy single off of the mound. Luke Nomura floated a ball into left field to score McIlroy and was followed by Bucciero who singled through the left side to tie the score.
- Redahan had a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth, and Brown was hit by a pitch, before Yaworski walked to load the bases. Ducatelli drove a ball into the right center field gap to score Redahan and give the Blue Devils the lead.
