
Baseball Wins Fifth Straight; Downs Mercyhurst on Friday
The Central Connecticut baseball team extended its winning streak to five games, with a 14-3 win over visiting Northeast Conference opponent Mercyhurst University, Friday afternoon in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils scored in every inning, including posting 11 runs in the opening three frames.
Drew Munn threw five scoreless innings for the Blue Devils, fanning three, to earn the win.

KEY MOMENTS
- Bo Yaworski drove a ball up the middle, with the bases loaded, to score Chris Brown and Aidan Redahan to give CCSU a 2-0 lead with one out in the home portion of the first inning. Two batters later Colby Brouillette singled to right field to plate Brown for the 3-0 lead.
- Mercyhurst loaded the bases in the top of the second before inducing a two-out ground ball to shor stop to eliminate the threat.
- CCSU tacked on three in the home part of the second, thanks in part to a two-out, two-RBI double from Brown. Brown advanced to third on a bunt single from Yaworski and scored on a fielding error by the Lakers, to give the Blue Devils a 6-0 advantage.
- The Lakers again threatened in the top of the third inning, loading the bases with one-out, before Munn induced a 4-6-3 ground ball double play from Lance DiBeradin.
- In the bottom half of the inning the Blue Devils took advantage of an error and three wild pitches to plate five runs and build the advantage to 11-0.
- CCSU added runs in each of the next two innings, with an RBI from Redahan in the fourth and a solo homerun from Brouillette in the fifth inning.
- Mercyhurst broke through in the top of the sixth inning, when Joe Trivisonn punched a 3-2 pitch through the right side to plate two runs. Eric Chorba followed with a single to right field that scored another to make it 13-3.
- Brady Short walked to lead off the home sixth, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a fielders choice ground ball by Yaworski.
