
Baseball Sweeps Sunday Doubleheader at LIU
The Central Connecticut baseball team swept a doubleheader at LIU in Northeast Conference action on Sunday. The Blue Devils took the first game, 11-1, before winning 4-2 in the second.

KEY MOMENTS
- Chris Brown and Colby Brouilette hit back-to-back doubles in the second inning to account for the game's opening run. The Blue Devils would break the game open with seven runs in the fourth inning. Matt Falk drove in two runs with a single to make it 3-0. Two batters later, Gianno Merlonghi hit a bases-clearing double to drive in three runs and double the lead. Aidan Redahan and Bo Yaworski each added RBI-singles to make it 8-0.
- Merlonghi would bring in another run in the fifth, drawing a bases-loaded walk. Redahan would follow with a sac fly to bring in a run and make it 10-1.
- A bases-loaded walk to Brown in the seventh would account for the final run.
- LIU managed just four hits against Vincent Borghese who tossed all 7.0 innings and allowed a lone run off a sac fly. He struck out seven Sharks.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils would tie the game, 1-1, in the third inning after Merlonghi led off with a double. He would score on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Haker for CCSU's opening run.
- The teams traded runs in the sixth inning. Redahan would single and move to second following a walk. With two outs, Brown singled to left to plate the go-ahead run.
- LIU loaded the bases on two walks and a hit batter in the bottom of the sixth. The tying run scored on a wild pitch before Central got out of the inning.
- Gabe Pitts led off the seventh with a single and then stole second. He would score on a single by Merlonghi to make it 3-2. CCSU tacked on a run on a sacrifice fly by Redahan to make it 4-2.
- Wyatt Cameron came on in relief and went 3.1 innings. He did not allow a hit, while striking out four.
NOTES
- CCSU banged out 10 hits in the first game – its second straight game with 10+ hits.
- Brouilette had four hits in the doubleheader.
- Merlonghi had four RBIs in the first game and a pair of hits in game two.
- Alex Dreyfus started the second game, allowing one run over 4.0 innings. He struck out four while not figuring in the decision.
