
Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader at Delaware State
The Central Connecticut baseball team swept a Northeast Conference doubleheader at Delaware State on Saturday. The Blue Devils took the opening game, 19-1, and held on in game two for a 12-10 victory to run their conference win streak to 14 games.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils would build a five-run lead through two and a half innings. Gabe Pitts drove in a run with a sac fly to open the scoring in the second inning. One batter later, Antonio Ducatelli scored on an error to make it 2-0.
- In the third inning, Bo Yaworski tripled to score Chris Brown with one out. With two outs, Matt Falk singled and drove in a pair of runs to make it 5-0.
- After the Hornets scored a run in the third, CCSU plated seven runs in the fourth to break the game open. Brown singled home a run and Yaworski hit a sac fly to drive in another to make it 7-1. Ducatelli followed with a three-run homer two batters later. The Blue Devils would load the bases with just one out in the frame before Gianno Merlonghi hit a sac fly to drive in another run Back-to-back hit batters would force in the final run of the frame to make it 12-1.
- A six-run fifth inning was highlighted by a two-run double by Brady Short and a three-run homer by Brown.
- A bases-loaded single by Pitts in the sixth closed out the scoring in the game.
- Vincent Borghese would toss another complete game and retired the last 15 batters in a row.

KEY MOMENTS
- Aidan Redahan singled in a run and Ryan Scialabba hit an RBI-groundout to give CCSU a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Blue Devils added four runs in the second inning. Pitts doubled in a run and Merlonghi singled in another before Redahan had a two-run single to make it 6-0.
- DSU got two runs back in the third before Ducatelli hit a three-run homer in the fourth to make it 9-2.
- The Hornets scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth and the game stayed 9-7 until the seventh. Yaworski tripled in two runs in the top of the seventh and DSU pushed across three runs in the bottom of the inning.
- Pitts hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning to make it 12-10. Wyatt Cameron tossed 2.1 innings to close the game and worked out of trouble in the eighth after Delaware State had runners on second and third with one out.
NOTES
- Borghese has tossed five complete games. He struck out 10 and scattered three hits in the first game.
- Ducatelli had four hits, five runs and six RBIs on the day.
- Pitts added four hits, five RBIs and three runs.
- Brown drove in five runs and scored three more in the first game.
- Redahan drove in three with three hits in the second game. He has reached base in all 22 games this season.
- All nine Blue Devils had a hit in game two.
- Central has collected 10+ hits in 16 straight games as a team.
