
Baseball Downs Delaware State Friday; 12th Straight NEC Win
The Central Connecticut baseball team came away with a convincing 14-5 win in the Northeast Conference series opener at Delaware State on Friday. The Blue Devils erased a two-run deficit by scoring 10 runs across the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to win their 12th straight conference game.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Hornets scored a run in the first inning on an RBI-groundout, but CCSU would even the score in the third. Gabe Pitts led off with a single and stole second. He would move to third on a groundout before scoring on an Aidan Redahan single to make it 1-1.
- Jabril Bullock led off the bottom of the third with a homerun for Delaware State and a RBI-single by Hassan Turner in the fourth would push the home side's lead to 3-1.
- In the top of the fifth, Redahan singled in a run and Chris Brown followed with a two-run single of his own to put Central ahead, 4-3.
- A solo homer by Brady Daniels in the bottom of the fifth tied the game, but CCSU came back with three runs in the sixth. The Blue Devils loaded the bases with two outs before Redahan drove in his third run of the game to make it 5-4. After an error extended the frame and allowed another run to score, Redahan would score on a wild pitch to make it 7-4.
- CCSU added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning. CCSU would capitalize on two errors by the Hornets and got RBI-singles from Brady Short, Redahan and Chris Brown to make it 11-4.
- DSU got a run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Turner before tacked on three more runs in the ninth. Gianno Merlonghi and Ryan Scialabba hit back-to-back one-out homeruns. Louis Jordan hit a two-out single to drive in a run and make it 14-5.
NOTES
- Aidan Redahan had a hit in four straight at bats and has now hit safely in 13 straight games.
- Brown added four hits and three RBIs, while Pitts added three hits, three runs and a pair of stolen bases
- Drew Munn started and earned his fourth straight win. He tossed 5.0 innings and recorded four strikeouts.
- Richie Kerstetter earned the first save for the CCSU staff this season. He tossed 4.0 innings of one-run ball and struck out three.
- Central has collected 10+ hits in 14 straight games as a team.
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 9-5.
