
Baseball Completes Weekend Sweep Of Coppin State
Blue Devils have won 11 consecutive NEC games.
The Central Connecticut baseball team swept its three-game Northeast Conference series with Coppin State, winning the finale on Sunday, 7-1, in New Britain. TJ Winn, Jr. tossed five strong innings on the mound, while Bo Yaworski drove in a pair of runs and Aidan Redahan collected three hits.

KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU scored a first-inning run once again on Sunday, as Brady Short earned a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a throwing error and scored the first run of the game when Aidan Redahan doubled to centerfield.
- The Blue Devils plated a three spot in the home portion of the third inning. Matt Falk led off with a double down the left field line. Two batters later he came home on a Kyle Gordon sacrifice fly.
- Redahan followed with a triple to right center that was followed by a Chris Brown walk. Brown stole second and the throw went into centerfield, allowing Redahan to score and Brown advanced to third. Bo Yaworski followed with an RBI single to make the score 4-0.
- The Eagles built a run in the top of the fourth inning, as Jayden Clark and Daniel Moore started the inning with back-to-back singles. After TJ Winn retired the next to batters swinging, Pranav Sundar singled through the left side to score Clark and make the score 4-1 Blue Devils.
- The Blue Devils wasted no time getting that run back in the bottom of the inning. Gianno Merlonghi led off with a single and Matt Falk followed with an RBI triple to extend the lead back to four, 5-1.
- Central plated two more two out runs in the home seventh as Redahan singled and scored on a Yaworski single, and Yaworski scored on a Antonio Ducatelli single, after stealing second.
- With runners on first and second in the top of the eight, Richie Kerstetter induced a ground ball to third that Brown turned into a 5-5-3 inning ending double play.
NOTES
- Winn, Jr. scattered four hits over five innings, fanned six and didn't walk any batters in earning the win.
- CCSU has won 11 straight games against NEC opponents and have won all four NEC series this spring.
- A two-out single in the bottom of the eight by Brady Short extended the Blue Devils streak of games with 10 or more hits to 12.
- Kerstetter threw three innings of relief, fanning two and walking none, while giving up just two hits.
- Redahan was 3-4 on the day, a homerun short of the cycle, and scored a pair of runs.
- Yaworski had two RBI, one of five Blue Devils that drove in a run Sunday, and finished 2-4 at the plate.
- Four of the Blue Devils 10 hits were extra bases knocks, with triples from Redahan and Falk.
- Wyatt Cameron tossed the ninth inning, striking out one, as he pitched a clean inning to close out the victory.
