Baseball Opens Weekend With Win Over FDU on Friday

The Central Connecticut baseball team won its third straight Northeast Conference contest with a 8-3 victory against FDU on Friday in New Britain, CT. Central took control of the game with a four-run fourth inning and its bullpen allowed just one hit in three innings of work.

KEY MOMENTS

• FDU took a two-run lead in the opening two frames after Johnathan Gomez hit a solo homerun in the first and Nate Dudeck sacrificed a run in in the second inning to make it 2-0.
• The Blue Devils would send all nine batters to the plate in the fourth inning, with the first five each hitting safely. Jackson Haker and Bo Yaworski would hit back-to-back RBI-doubles to tie the game before a base hit by Chris Brown drove in a run to make it 3-2. Matt Falk would drive in a run on an RBI-groundout to make it 4-2.
• CCSU added two runs in the sixth inning on a double by Falk that made it 6-2. In the seventh, CCSU strung together three hits to tack on two runs. With two outs, Colby Brouillette singled to centerfield to plate two runs and make it 8-3.
• FDU got a run in the seventh when Diego Urreta singled to bring in a run, but that was the Knights' only hit off the Blue Devils bullpen.

• Central banged out 11 hits in the game, including five extra-base hits.
• Aidan Redahan had three hits.
• Brouillette had two hits and two RBIs.
• Falk drove in three runs.
• Drew Munn started for Central and scattered four hits over 6.0 innings. He had three strikeouts.
• Richie Kerstetter, Nick Murphy and Wyatt Cameron combined to allow just one run and one hit over 3.0 innings.
• CCSU leads the all-time series, 64-31, and has won the last three meetings.
