Neumann Named NEC Pitcher of the Week
Junior posted his fifth win with a 3-0 shutout on Saturday
Junior right hander Nick Neumann ended the 2013 with his finest performance. On Monday he was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts. Neumann and the Blue Devils ended their season on Sunday finishing with a 28-25 overall record and a 16-16 mark in NEC action.
Neumann pitched the shutout in NEC baseball last week. The 6-foot-3 hurler held Mount St. Mary's scoreless for 7.0 innings to pick up a 3-0 complete-game victory. Neumann scattered five hits and did not issue any bases on balls.
The third-year Blue Devil, who registered three strikeouts in the game, did not face more than four batters in any of his seven frames of work. He retired 11 of 12 batters faced at one point. The effort lowered Neumann's ERA to 3.97 and evened his win-loss record at 5-5.
