Baseball Falls to Northeastern
Blue Devils will travel this weekend for NEC series at Monmouth
The Central Connecticut baseball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Monday with a 7-0 home loss to Northeastern. Central is now 9-7 overall on the season. Northeast is 11-11 with the victory.
The Huskies struck first with a run in the top of the fourth inning off of Blue Devil starter Dominic Severino. Severino had retired the first nine batters he faced prior to the inning.
Northeastern's Keith Kelly drove in the second run with an infield single in the seventh, making it 2-0. They scored three more in the eighth to push the lead to 5-0.
Two more runs in the ninth, on RBIs from Jason Vosler and Rob Fonseca, pushed the Husky lead to 7-0.
Central had just six hits in the game, including two from junior Dylan DelaCruz. It marked the first time this season that the Blue Devils were shut out.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Thursday in the first game of a weekend series at Monmouth, beginning at 3 p.m. The two teams will also play a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
