Baseball Wins on Senior Day
Blue Devils end season with 28 wins
The Central Connecticut baseball team ended its 2013 season with a 7-5 home victory over Mount St. Mary's on Senior Day in New Britain. The Blue Devils finish the season with a 28-25 overall record, and a 16-16 mark in Northeast Conference play. Mount finishes 11-37 overall and 6-26 in the league.
The Blue Devils took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Mike Washburn drove in a run with a single and two more scored on a fielding error by the Mount, giving the Blue Devils the early lead.
The Mount answered with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the second inning, cutting the lead to 3-2.
Central senior Nick Pamlisano's sacrifice fly in the third inning made it 4-2. Senior Chris Renzoni hit his second career home run in the fourth inning to make it 5-2.
Mount St. Mary's scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game, 5-5.
Central got the lead back with a pair of runs in the seventh inning. Junior Dylan DelaCruz's sacrifice fly made it 6-5. It was his 34th run batted in of the season. Renzoni drove in his second run of the game with his third hit to make it 7-5.
Prior to the game the Blue Devils honored their seven seniors, who were playing in their final game for the Blue Devils. Washburn, Palmisano, Jack Greenhouse, Tyler McIntyre, starting pitcher Todd Savatsky, Renzoni and Bobby Migliazza were all honored prior to the first pitch.
