Brown, DelaCruz Earn Weekly Honors
Pair honored following series win on the road at Quinnipiac
Junior Dylan DelaCruz and sophomore Cody Brown earned weekly Northeast Conference awards on Monday. The pair were honored following a 3-1 series victory on the road at Quinnipiac over the weekend. The Blue Devils are 24-24 overall and 13-15 in league play, still alive for the fourth and final playoff spot in the upcoming NEC Tournament.
DelaCruz was named the Player of the Week while Brown earned Pitcher of the Week honors for his fifth win of the season.
DelaCruz had the best weekend of his career as the Blue Devils took three of four at Quinnipiac over the weekend. DelaCruz batted .526 with 10 hits in 19 at-bats, to go along with four home runs, seven runs scored and an amazing 13 runs batted in. He started the weekend going 4-for-6 with three doubles, a home run, three runs scored and six runs batted in in a 17-4 victory.
In Saturday's doubleheader he went 4-for-8 with three runs scored, two more home runs and two RBI in a split vs. the Bobcats. He capped off his weekend by leading a big comeback in a Sunday 13-12 extra-inning victory. He was 2-for-5 with a grand slam, sacrifice fly and five RBI in the series finale. His gtand slam came in a nine-run ninth inning and his sacrifice fly scored the game-winner in the 10th.
Brown pitched eight innings and picked up his fifth win of the season in a series-opening win at Quinnipiac on Thursday afternoon. Brown went eight innings allowing just four hits and striking out six Bobcats on the way to his team-best fifth win. Brown retired the final six batters he faced and nine of the last 10.
