Baseball Falls 3-0 at Monmouth
Blue Devils and Hawks will play a doubleheader on Friday
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road at Monmouth on Thursday in the first game of a weekend series with the Hawks. With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in Northeast Conference play.
The Blue Devils managed just four hits in the game, including two from junior outfielder J.P. Sportman.
The Hawks scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning off of Blue Devil sophomore starter Casey Brown. All three runners scored on a two-out double in the inning by the Hawks.
Brown pitched eight innings for the Blue Devils, allowing nine hits and just the three runs. He walked a pair and struck out three, and is now 1-2 on the season.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. They will finish the weekend series on Saturday with a single nine-inning game.
