Keane, Carroll Earn NEC Swimmer And Diver Of The Week
Duo joined by O'Leary as NEC Prime Performers
Central Connecticut State's Abbey Keane was named the Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week, and Kaitlyn Carroll was named the league's Diver of the Week on Wednesday. The duo was joined by Katrine O'Leary on the weekly NEC Prime Performer list.
Keane swam three times in the Blue Devils dual wins over Wagner and Southern Connecticut. She opened the meet with a win in the 1,000-freestyle, leading nearly the entire race and pulling away for an 11 second victory with her time of 10:30.88. She then was back in the pool in the next event to place fourth in the 200 freestyle, swimming 1:58.41. Keane completed the day with another win, touching first in the 500-freestyle at 5:11.87, another wire-to-wire victory.
Carroll, a rookie, took home Diver of the Week after a strong performance on both boards in the double-dual victory. She won the 3-meter board with a score of 237.83. Her 219.47 points was good for the second-highest point total on the low board.
O'Leary earned a pair of first place finishes, with a 100-backstroke swim of 57.72 and a 50 free swim of 24.42.
The Blue Devils are back in action on November 16th when they host Merrimack. That meet will take place in Suydam Natatorium at 5:00 pm
