
Keane, O'Leary Earn Event Wins On First Night Of Dual At New Hampshire
The two-day meet concludes Saturday morning.
The Central Connecticut State swimming and diving team opened a two-day dual with the University of New Hampshire Friday evening. After first 10 events that encompassed two relays and a diving event, UNH leads the meet 128.5-57.5
The second day of competition, in Durham, NH, will begin at 11:00 am Saturday.
Freestyles
- Abbey Keane captured the 1,000-freestyle, posting a time of 10:32.32 after taking the lead on during the eighth 50 of the race and pulled away from that point
- Shannon Welcome was the Blue Devils top finisher, placing third with a swim of 1:57.37
- Gabby Spaciano was the fourth finisher, touching at 1:57.44
- Kelly Stotler stooped the clock at 25.18 in the 50-freestyle, good for third place, while Lauryn Cowing touched at 25.60 for fifth place
Strokes
- Katrien O'Leary gave CCSU its first win, in the 100-backstroke, swimming a 59.36
- Megan Dunnigan touched at 1:00.10 in the 100-backstroke, tying for fourth-place
- Cassidy Stotler placed second in the 100-breaststroke with a 1:06.43 effort
- Abby Bacon was next for the Blue Devils, placing fourth with a swim of 1:11.60
- Sophie Milhomens placed fourth in the 200-butterfly (2:12.78) followed by Gabi Wroblewski (2:13.88)
- Cassidy Stotler was the third finisher in the 200 IM, at 2:10.63, and Wroblewski was fifth with a 2:14.80
Diving
- Jewelle Maziarz score 230.48 points to place third on the 1-meter board
- Zoe Baker was fourth with a score of 211.35
RELAYS
- O'Leary (25.15), Kelly Stotler (25.78), Cowing (25.71) and Welcome (24.55) combined for a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with a time of 1:41.19 in the first event
- Milhomens (1:00.20), Cassidy Stotler (1:07.16), Dunnigan (1:07.16) and Spaciano (53.80) finished third in the 400-medley relay to close out the first night of competition
