
Keane Picks Up First NEC Swimmer Of The Week Honor
Maggie Rutledge named Rookie of the Week; Berube and Pincince earn Prime Performer
Central Connecticut State swimming and diving swept the opening week of Northeast Conference weekly awards. Abbey Keane was named the NEC Swimmer of the Week, while Maggie Rutledge was tabbed as the Rookie of the Week for their swims at the Block Cancer Open Water Festival. They were joined by NEC Prime Performer honorees Wynter Berube and Sophia Pincince.
Keane, a senior was the top collegiate finisher, and third overall in the 5K open water swim. Her time of 59:51 earned her a qualifying time for the CSCAA Open Water National Championship this December. Rutledge also earned a qualifying time for the national championship meet, as she placed 10th in the women's race, with a swim of 1:03.34.
Berube swam to a third-place finish in the 2.5K swim at the festival, swimming 32:40 for her prime performer recognition. Pincince won the women's 1.25K race, with a swim of 15:44.
The Blue Devils return to competition this weekend at the Fairfield Invitational. The divers will compete Friday evening, with the swimming events on Saturday.
