
O'Leary Named NEC Rookie Of The Week
Wroblewski and Maziarz earn NEC Prime Performer
Central Connecticut State freshman Katrine O'Leary was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Wednesday. The rookie was part of five wins in the Blue Devils win over NEC opponents Sacred Heart.
Gabi Wroblewski and Jewelle Maziarz earned NEC Prime Performer accolades for their efforts in the victory.
O'Leary posted two individual wins in the dual meet. She won the 100 backstroke at 58.55, winning the race by 1.28 seconds. She also captured the 50-freestyle, clocking a time of 24.84, touching out the second-place finisher by .02.
A native of Seymour, CT, O'Leary swam the opening leg of three victorious relays for the Blue Devils. Her opening leg of the 200 free relay was 24.83 the fastest split of all the lead legs, and fourth fastest split of the 20 swims in the relay. Her lead off leg in the 400 freestyle relay was 53.86, the fastest swim of any competitor in the relay. O'Leary also led of the 200-medley relay, with a split of 27.48.
The Blue Devils swimming and diving team is back in action on Saturday, January 27th, with a dual meet at Rhode Island.
