
Women's Basketball Adds Pair for Upcoming Season
Central Connecticut head women's basketball coach Way Veney has announced the addition of two student-athletes to the program for the 2023-24 season. Samora Watson and Alonna Sellers will be joining the Blue Devils as transfer student-athletes.
Central Connecticut head women's basketball coach Way Veney has announced the addition of two student-athletes to the program for the 2023-24 season. Samora Watson and Alonna Sellers will be joining the Blue Devils as transfer student-athletes.
Samora Watson played her rookie season at East Carolina University, appearing in four games for the Pirates, including in the NCAA Tournament game against Texas. A native of League City, Texas, Watson attended Clear Falls High School.
Alonna Sellers spent her freshman and sophomore years at UNC Asheville. As a freshman, Sellers appeared in 29 games for the Bulldogs, scoring a season-best 12 points to go with nine rebounds in a win over Mars Hill. Overall, she played 142 minutes, shot 40 percent from the field, scored 32 points, grabbed 49 rebounds, and blocked four shots in her rookie season. Sellers did not play her sophomore season due to injury. A native of Hampton, VA, Sellers helped her high school team, Hampton High School, to a 26-1 record her senior season, after helping the squad to a share of a State Championship and averaged nearly a double-double as a junior (10 PPG, 8.0 RPG).
