Women's Basketball Rally Falls Short At SFU
Three Blue Devils score in double figures in Saturday's game
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team rallied from a 19-point deficit to draw even, but could not get on top, falling 63-57 to Saint Francis in Loretto, PA on Saturday night. The Blue Devils had three players score in double digits, led by 16 points from Dejah Jenkins.
The Blue Devils are back in action Thursday, February 2, when they host St. Francis Brooklyn at 7:00 pm

KEY MOMENTS
- Dejah Jenkins put the Blue Devils on top 5-4, with her first triple of the game at the 5:44 mark of the opening quarter
- The Red Flash scored eight unanswered points, capped by a Layla Laws layup at the 2:37 mark to build a 12-5 advantage
- Belle Lanpher ended the CCSU scoring drought on the next possession, but the Red Flash scored the final six points to take an 18-7 lead through the first quarter
- Jenkins jumpstarted the CCSU offense at the start of the second quarter, scoring the first four points of the period
- Meghan Kenefick scored the next five, for the 9-0 CCSU run to close to 18-16 after a triple from the top of the key with 5:54 to play in the first half
- Tatiana Brown answered an Aaliyah Moore conventional three-point play with a jumper at the 5:15 mark to bring CCSU within 21-18
- The Red Flash went on another run, eight straight points, and ended the half on a 13-2 run to take a 34-20 lead into the intermission
- SFU scored the first five points of the third quarter, before Forever Toppin found Lara Rohkohl for a layup and conventional three point play after the foul, making the score 39-23
- A Sam Miller jumper with 4:41 to play in the third gave SFU a 45-30 advantage
- Kenefick started a 5-0 run with a jumper at the 3:35 mark to reach double figures
- A conventional three-point play from Toppin at the 2:13 mark cut the deficit to 10, 45-35
- Ally Sentence came up with a midcourt steal, got the ball to Kenefick who laid it off for a Belle Lanpher hoop to make the deficit eight, 45-37
- Destini Ward made two free throws with four ticks left in the third to make the advantage 10, 47-37 entering the final stanza
- A Goula layup with 5:41 to play made the lead 11, 55-44
- CCSU would score the next 11 points, started by a conventional three points play from Jenkins
- Toppin scored with 3:21 to play, Kenefick drained a three with 2:44 remaining and Jenkins hit a jumper with 2:27 to play to draw within a point
- Rohkohl knocked down a free throw with 1:57 left to tie the score
- On the next possession, Goula drained a three to put the Red Flash back on top and finish the game with an 8-2 run
