Women's Basketball Defeated at Quinnipiac

Central Connecticut women's basketball was defeated on Saturday by the Quinnipiac Bobcats 72-54. Three Blue Devils scored in double figures, including freshman, Ally Sentence, who led the team in scoring with 12 points.

KEY MOMENTS 

  • CCSU opened the game with the first five points, with a jumper from Forever Toppin and a three from Lara Rohkohl 2:22 into the game 

  • Ally Sentence got on the board with 3:46 to play in the first quarter and gave the Blue Devils a 10-6 advantage 

  • Sentence sank a three pointer, on a pass from Dejah Jenkins with 90 seconds left in the first, for a 17-13 advantage 

  • Quinnipiac scored the final five points of the period, taking an 18-17 advantage 

  • Sentance made the deficit one point, 22-21, 1:18 into the second quarter 

  • The Bobcats went on a 20-4 run from that point, building a 42-25 lead at the half 

NUMBERS TO KNOW 

  • The Blue Devils shot 39.1 percent from behind the arc in the game, led by a 3-5 effort from Jenkins. 

  • Sentance was good on 5-10 from the field on her way to a 12-point effort, the best of her young collegiate career 

  • Rohkohl had two blocked shots to go along with 10 points 

NOTES 

  • Central again had an offensive rebounding advantage, 14-12, for the second time in as many games 

  • The starting five for tonight's game featured Forever Toppin, Dejah Jenkins, Meghan Kenefick, Ally Sentence, and Lara Rohkohl. Jenkins and Kenefick were the most used players in the game, logging 37 and 38 minutes, respectively. 

  • This was the 30th matchup of all time between the two programs. With today's win, the Bobcats improved their record to 25-5 against the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils will be back on the road next Saturday as they take on NJIT before their home opener against Saint Peter's on Wednesday the 23rd.
