
Willnett Crockett Announced as Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

"Will is someone who not only played at UConn but was part of multiple Championship teams. Her winning pedigree and ties to the State of Connecticut will be a tremendous asset for us in recruiting."
Crockett and Veney spent 13 seasons together on the women's basketball staff at Temple University. During her tenure she assisted head coach Tonya Cardoza in becoming the winningest coach in program history, with 251 victories. Crockett and Veney helped lead the Owls to three NCAA Tournament appearances and four WNIT appearances, including two Elite 8's and a Final Four run in 2015.
In 2022-23 Crockett was the Director of Basketball Operations for California State University of Northridge and head coach Carlene Mitchell.
Crockett is a 2006 graduate of the University of Connecticut, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology. During her career, she helped the squad to two BIG EAST regular season titles, two BIG EAST Tournament titles, and two National Championships. She was also a part of the record-breaking Division I 70-game winning streak from 2001-03.
After UConn, Crockett was selected in the second round of the 2006 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks (22nd pick overall). She also played for the Phoenix Mercury as well as overseas in such places as Africa, Latvia, and Lithuania prior to being hired by Temple in 2009.
The 2023-24 campaign will be the 38th Division I season for the CCSU women's basketball program, and 53rd overall, dating back to the inaugural 1971-72 campaign. The Blue Devils have two WNIT appearances and earned a share of the Northeast Conference regular season title in 2014-15.
