Women's Basketball Defeated at Boston College

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Boston College, 86-35, on Thursday afternoon at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA. Lara Rohkohl led the team with 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

KEY MOMENTS  

  • Boston College was quick to score with a layup from Maria Gakdeng. This ignited an Eagles 9-0 run to build an early lead. 

  • Forever Toppin hit a jumper to halt the Eagles' momentum and put CCSU on the board. 

  • A Dejah Jenkins layup brought the Blue Devils within 10 before the Eagles went on a 7-0 run, earning a 17-point lead.  

  • A three from Amaya Williams and a jumper from Belle Lanpher helped to trim the gap to 14 points going into the second quarter. 

  • CCSU attempted to build momentum in the second when Lara Rohkohl sunk a layup and then immediately hustled to the opposite end of the court to block a shot from Taina Mair.  

  • Boston College went on a 10-3 run before a Meghan Kenefick jumper ended the quarter, leaving the score at 42-19 going into the half. 

  • The Eagles kicked off the third with a jumper from JoJo Lacey and a layup from Mair. Central retaliated with a layup from Kenefick with the assist from Toppin. 

  • Boston College shot 60.0% from the floor in the third quarter going 9-15 to widen their lead to 32 points. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW  

100- This was the 100th game Forever Toppin has played in for CCSU in her career. Of the 100 games, Toppin has recorded 60 starts. 

NOTES  

  • Dejah Jenkins was the leading scorer for CCSU with 7 points. She also tallied one block and one assist. 

  • Lara Rohkohl led the team in rebounding with 7 rebounds, followed closely by Alli Napoli with 6. 

  • This was the 10th meeting of all time between the two programs, the last being in the 2016-17 season. Today, the Eagles improved their record to 4-6 against the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils will open conference play at home against Stonehill on January 2nd. Tipoff is set for 4:00pm.
