Women's Basketball Defeated at UMass Lowell

The Central Connecticut women's basketball fell to UMass Lowell, 60-47, on Wednesday night at Costello Athletic Center in Lowell, MA. The Blue Devils were led by 16 points from Dejah Jenkins and a career-high 11 rebounds from Alli Napoli.

  • UMass Lowell got out to a quick start with baskets from Jaliena Sanchez and Ivory Finley. CCSU was able to chip away with field goals from four different Blue Devils, including a three-pointer from Forever Toppin at the 5:03 mark, but ended the first quarter trailing 15-9. 

  • Central had a late push in the second quarter, going on a 6-0 run starting with a Jenkins layup at 5:24, attempting to close the gap. Jenkins sunk another layup to end the half, leaving the score at 31-19 before halftime.

  • Jenkins kicked off the second half, sinking a three-pointer with an assist from Forever Toppin. Less than a minute later she made a driving layup to bring the score within 10. 

  • Toppin and Jenkins each scored to bring the gap down to 5 (33-28). The Riverhawks retaliated with a 7-0 run to bring their lead back to double figures. 

  • Finley sunk a driving layup with 7 seconds to play, drawing a foul. She made the free throw for the three-point play, ending the quarter and giving the River Hawks the 13-point lead (45-32). 

  • A Belle Lanpher three opened the fourth quarter. She followed with a steal and a layup less than 30 seconds later, trimming UMass Lowell's lead to single digits. 

  • The River Hawks went on a 15-5 run, giving them their largest lead of the game at 18 points. 

  • Toppin was able to sink two layups and a free throw before the end of the quarter to close within 60-47. 


16 – Jenkins point total, her sixth double-digit scoring effort of the season 


  • Jenkins was back into double digits for the sixth time this season, finishing with 16 points, while collecting 6 rebounds. 

  • Toppin also scored in double digits, finishing with 10 points. 

  • Alli Napoli had a career-high of 11 rebounds, five offensive. 

  • UMass Lowell also had two players in double figures, led by Finley with 18 points. 

  • The Blue Devils had 15 offensive rebounds.
