Central Connecticut women's basketball snagged their first win of the season on Wednesday in their home opener against Saint Peter's. The Blue Devils defeated the Peacocks 76-56, with Dejah Jenkins leading the team with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

The Blue Devils came in hot in the first quarter, going on a 13-2 run. The Peacocks attempted to slow CCSU's momentum, but Central maintained control of the game, forcing 10 turnovers and shooting 50.0 percent in the first quarter.
The Blue Devils scored 14 more points before the end of the quarter, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Meghan Kenefick, to earn a 27-4 lead.
Saint Peter's attempted to close the gap in the second quarter, scoring 18 points. CCSU was able to hold the Peacocks off, going into the half with a 40-22 lead, shooting 45.5%.
Central started the second half with a 7-0 run, gaining a 23-point lead (their largest of the game). Saint Peter's kicked it into gear, trimming CCSU's lead down to 16 points heading into the fourth quarter.
The Blue Devils outscored the Peacocks 23-19 in the final quarter, securing their first win of the season.

This was the 2nd meeting of all time between Central Connecticut and Saint Peter's. The Blue Devils and the Peacocks last faced off in the 2010-2011 season in Jersey City, NJ. Central defeated Saint Peter's 78-66.
The Blue Devils will host Brown University on Monday at Detrick Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
